Mocana was born at a market stall.
Laura was in her home country of Colombia, when a jewellery stand caught her attention and refused to let go: raw and uncut, no two alike, the emeralds called to her immediately. Bringing them back to London, she was regaled with people stopping her to ask where they were from.
The logo came to her immediately and it was ready by the time the two of us spoke. One Colombian, one Sicilian, an old friendship and a young business partnership - we’d always wanted to build something together.
Colombian emeralds are the finest in the world, formed without the iron that fills emeralds elsewhere. Most are cut and polished until each resembles the next; we leave ours exactly as they come out of the Andes.
We want every woman who wear Mocana to feel exactly as she is - the piece complimenting her natural beauty with its own, never competing.

Mocaná is a female owned business.
It was founded in 2025 by Laura Rivera and Emi Dibenedetto.
Just as Mocaná itself began at a market stall in Colombia, the partnership between Mocaná and Arilique started at a stall too — where we met both founders, full of energy and surrounded by emeralds. They told us how every piece begins in the Colombian Andes and is made entirely in Colombia, by a team of artisans working in filigree, a technique passed down through generations. Production is entirely by hand, so no two pieces are ever identical.
What stayed with us was how much of the brand is about honouring where it comes from: supporting Colombian artisan craft, championing individuality, and sending each customer home with a piece that carries a story of origin rather than a production line.
